This is a full ride in the strict sense. University tuition at the international rate, the College fee, annual maintenance sufficient for a single person, the student visa and the Immigration Health Surcharge are all covered, which leaves very little for a student to find themselves.
Nothing about it is applied for separately. Applicants offered a place by a Cambridge College are sent a Cambridge Trust form and considered for every award the Trust administers that they qualify for. There is no deadline to diarise and no way to apply ahead of an offer, so the entire controllable part of this is the Cambridge application itself.
The criteria are need and circumstance rather than academic record. Cambridge admission has already settled the academic question by the time the Trust looks at a candidate, so what the Trust weighs is a high level of financial need and having overcome significant challenges in reaching the point of admission.
It is unrestricted across the university: tenable at any College and in any subject, so the choice of College does not affect access to it.
Overseas fee status is the eligibility gate, which rules out home-fee students regardless of nationality or circumstances.
