About the Scholarship

The College Scholar award covers two-thirds to three-quarters of tuition at the College of Wooster, and like the Presidential award it names international first-year students explicitly.

It sits a step below the Presidential Scholar and needs no interview: it arrives with the admission decision on an unweighted grade average of around 3.6.

Worth knowing what is not open to you. Wooster's Dean's Scholar award, worth $25,000 to $43,000, states that eligible applicants are new entering domestic students only, so international applicants are considered for this and the Presidential award instead.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

Three-quarters or two-thirds of tuition, renewed annually on good academic standing. The award's own page carries no figure; this comes from the college's financial aid hub, the only place it publishes one. The college remains need-aware for international applicants. Awards apply to tuition charges only, and 2026 to 2027 tuition and fees are $66,290 against comprehensive fees of $82,340, so even full tuition leaves around $16,000 of housing and meals uncovered. The college does not consider SAT or ACT scores for any merit award.

Eligibility

Entry as a first-year student. Typically awarded to students with an unweighted grade average of 3.6 or higher in a rigorous curriculum, or a class rank in the top 20 per cent where rank applies. Not dependent on financial need.
