The Gold and Blue Scholarship is Florida International University's main merit award for students entering straight from secondary school. For applicants who are not Florida residents, which includes everyone applying from abroad, the published range is $4,000 to $24,000 distributed across four years.
FIU is one of the few large public universities that states its citizenship rule plainly. The scholarship page says eligible students must be a US citizen, a lawful permanent resident, or an international student receiving an F-1 visa or another eligible visa. That makes this a genuine option for an applicant from overseas.
There is no essay and no separate form. FIU reviews your admissions application and your academic record, so the work is in submitting a complete, strong application with official test scores sent directly to the university. Scores must arrive by the scholarship review date, which means registering for tests early enough for the results to reach FIU in time.
Two catches are worth knowing. The award cannot be stacked with other FIU merit aid, so it will not sit on top of a tuition waiver. And funding is finite: the Scholarship Office reviews admitted students until the money has all been allocated, which rewards applying in the first round rather than the last.
