About the Scholarship

The Dean's Scholarship is the workhorse of Fordham's merit list, worth $25,000 a year against tuition and reaching around one in ten admitted students. Transfer applicants are eligible as well as first-year applicants, which matters because transfers cannot apply for Fordham's need-based aid.

The published threshold is a 3.75 GPA in a rigorous curriculum, read alongside leadership, commitment and service. Fordham decides at the point of admission, so there is no separate form, essay or interview.

At current Fordham tuition, $25,000 is under half the bill, so treat it as a discount rather than a funded place. It renews annually at the same amount for up to four years while you hold a 3.0 GPA.

Eligibility

Entering traditional first-year and transfer students with strong academic performance in a rigorous curriculum, shown as a 3.75 or higher GPA, plus exceptional personal characteristics, commitment, leadership or service. Typically about 10 percent of admitted students receive it. Renewal needs full-time status, satisfactory academic progress, a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and compliance with university policies and the Code of Conduct.

Your application for admission is the scholarship application. All complete admission applications are considered automatically, no extra forms or essays are needed, and the award is named inside the online admission letter. Fordham is test optional, so scores are optional for scholarship consideration. Notification is made at the time of admission.
