GW has taken part in the #YouAreWelcomeHere programme since 2019 and gives out two of these awards a year. Each one pays full undergraduate tuition and renews for up to 10 semesters, which makes it the single largest award an international applicant can win at GW.
Eligibility is simple to check. You must be applying for autumn first-year entry, you must attend or have graduated from a secondary school outside the United States, and you must be able to show initiative in intercultural learning and exchange. The selection turns on an essay or a video where you set out how you would bridge cultural divides on campus.
The catch is the size of the field and the paperwork. GW gives international applicants no need-based or US government aid, so everything else in the budget, housing, meals, fees and flights, comes from family funds or outside sponsors. You also have to file a CSS Profile to GW alongside the scholarship application, and the portal application is due by 31 January.
