About the Scholarship

The Rhodes Scholarship is a fully funded postgraduate award that supports full-time study at the University of Oxford for two to three years, depending on the course. Established in 1902, it is the oldest international graduate scholarship programme.

The award covers Oxford course fees, an annual stipend (£20,400 for 2025/26), the Oxford application fee, student visa and health surcharge costs, two economy flights, and a settling-in allowance. Scholars can study almost any full-time postgraduate course offered by Oxford.

Selection is based on academic excellence, achievement outside the classroom, character and service to others, and leadership potential. Eligibility and exact age limits depend on the applicant's constituency, so the official eligibility checker is the first step.

Country eligibility is subject to the provider's published requirements, checked on 12 September 2026.

Residency and citizenship rules are set per constituency, and the Global Rhodes constituency for applicants outside the 24 named constituencies is currently suspended. Typically 18 to 23 on 1 October of the application year, or under 27 if you completed your first undergraduate degree within the previous year. Exact limits vary by constituency.
