The Presidential at Entry Scholarship is the top merit award at Santa Clara University, covering full tuition for first-year students whose applications reflect the qualities the president treats as central to the University's mission.
It is indexed to tuition increases and renews for 12 consecutive academic quarters, so it holds its value across a full degree. Keeping it means full-time enrolment, satisfactory academic progress and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.
Nothing extra is needed. Merit awards are reviewed with your admission application and recipients hear at the time of admission. Santa Clara's admission guidance for counsellors states that international students are eligible for merit-based awards, reviewed when the application is read, with no additional documents for the merit decision.
The catch is everything outside tuition. Housing, meals, fees, health insurance and travel remain yours, and Santa Clara requires applicants who are not US citizens or eligible non-citizens to file the International Student Financial Resource Form with proof that the family can cover the total first-year cost. Note also that the separate Johnson Scholars Award at Santa Clara is closed to international students, so this award is the ceiling for most applicants from abroad.
