The Klein Family Scholarship sends one Hungarian student to Sewanee each year with all direct costs of attendance paid, meaning tuition, room, board and fees, for four years. It was endowed in 2007 in memory of Linda Klein, who was of Hungarian descent.
To be considered you need Hungarian citizenship, enough English to study in the US, and the ability to start in August. Sewanee is looking for high achievement and leadership potential, and preference goes to students finishing secondary school in the current academic year. You must apply for need-based financial aid, which means the CSS Profile and family financial documents.
The effort is one application. Apply to Sewanee and complete every item on your Applicant Status Page by 1 February, and the selection happens from there.
The catch is the size of the field against a single award, and the $5,000 or so of indirect costs (books, health insurance, travel, visa and SEVIS fees, personal spending) that the scholarship leaves with you.
